Quoizel

Quoizel is an American lighting brand founded in 1930 in Manhattan by Michael Chaikin, originally making oil burning hurricane lamps rather than electric fittings; the Abigail Adams lamp from that early era stayed in the catalogue for decades. Ira Phillips joined the company in 1964 and bought it outright in 1986, and it remains privately owned and run by the same family. Quoizel built its reputation on Tiffany style stained glass lighting before expanding into chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings, and in 1996 moved its headquarters, manufacturing and distribution to a purpose built facility near Charleston, South Carolina, whose low country architecture still influences the design studio today.
