A Small Lantern Cage for the Wall
Four slender arms curve up from a stubby oval backplate to meet under a single ball finial, and two candle lamps sit right out in the open where a shade would usually hide them. It reads as a miniature lantern rather than a wall bracket, cast in Antique White and worn back at every edge to look handled rather than new.
Antique White, Read Properly
The paint is not a flat white. It goes on as a warm off white and is then rubbed back along the ball finials, the curved arms and the twisted strap at the base until a soft brown shows through the wear points. Up close that browning is the most convincing part of the finish, because it sits exactly where a hand would touch an old iron fitting over years of use. The alternative in this design is Grey Ash, a near black charcoal with pale flecks scattered through it. Choose Antique White where the room already leans pale or country rather than dark and industrial.
How It Works
An oval backplate fixes flat to the wall and carries a short crossbar with two E14 lampholders, each sitting under its own drip pan style bobeche. Nothing shades the lamps, so the candle shaped bulbs you choose are as much a part of the look as the ironwork around them. Bulbs are not supplied. It will dim, but only with dimmable lamps fitted. This is a Class I fitting, which means it needs an earth connection, and because it is hardwired, fitting it is a job for a qualified electrician rather than a DIY plug in job.
Where It Works Best
At 41.8cm tall and projecting 16.5cm from the wall, this is a fitting for a spot with some depth to spare, a run of kitchen wall beside a splashback, either side of a dresser in a dining room, or flanking a mirror. The Bradbury family also includes a flush ceiling fitting in the same twisted strap language, thirty three centimetres across and only 13.9cm deep, for rooms where a wall light will not fit the plan. Go bigger still and the range runs to a four light pendant at 40.5cm and a five light chandelier at 63.6cm, both properly ceiling hung rather than wall fixed. This wall light and the flush fitting are the two built for tight spaces rather than statement rooms.
Ira Phillips and the Family That Still Runs Quoizel
Ira Phillips joined Quoizel in 1964 as Director of Merchandising and Sales, and by 1986 he owned the company outright. It has stayed privately held and family run ever since, through the Phillips family rather than any parent group. That continuity shows in a fitting like this one, where the design leans on shapes and finishes that do not chase a passing trend, the sort of thing a family business can afford to keep making for decades rather than one season.

Questions People Ask
How far does it stick out from the wall? 16.5cm, with a height of 41.8cm and a width of 20.7cm. Allow clearance either side if it is going next to a door frame or mirror.
Which bulbs does it take? Two E14 small screw lamps, bought separately. The photographs show clear candle shaped filament lamps, which suit the open cage design because the whole lamp is visible.
Is it suitable for a bathroom? No IP rating is published for this fitting, so it should stay in dry rooms rather than a bathroom or shower room.
