The Smallest Bedford, Sized For A Modest Porch
Not every front door needs a large lantern either side of it. This is the smallest wall mounted Bedford, built for a narrower door surround or a porch where a bigger fitting would look out of place.
Mystic Black In Miniature
The same textured, pebbled black as the rest of the Bedford range, just on a smaller cast frame. The scroll arm still curves up from a shaped back plate above the lantern roof, and the seeded glass panels, each divided by a central bar, are full of the same fine trapped bubbles that keep the light behind them soft rather than glaring.
How It Works
One E27 screw fit lamp sits upright in the centre and is not supplied. A dimmable lamp will let the fitting dim, since nothing in the lantern itself stands in the way. It is Class I, so an earth connection is required, and the IP44 rating protects it against splashing water from any direction. The glass is properly seeded rather than smooth. Expect some simple assembly, and have it wired in by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
Terraced fronts, cottage doors, narrower porches where the 25.4cm width of the large Bedford wall lantern would crowd the opening. At 32.2cm tall and projecting 20.3cm this is around seven centimetres shorter and four centimetres closer to the wall than the medium version, which stands 39.1cm tall with a 24.1cm projection.
A Design House That Keeps Its Old Lamps In The Catalogue
Quoizel began in 1930 making hurricane lamps that burned oil rather than electricity. One of those early designs, the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades after the company had long since moved on to hardwired chandeliers, pendants and sconces. A traditional lantern shape like this one, roof, chimney form, glass panels to show the light, carries some of that same early thinking forward.

Questions People Ask
How much smaller is this than the medium Bedford wall lantern? Just under seven centimetres shorter, 32.2cm against 39.1cm, and it stands 4cm closer to the wall at 20.3cm projection rather than 24.1cm.
What lamp does it need? A single E27 screw fit lamp, not included. Choose a clear one to make the most of the seeded glass.
Does it fix flat to the wall? Yes, through a shaped back plate that the scroll arm rises from, so the lantern itself hangs just clear of the wall face.
