Stained Glass At Eye Level
Set the Kami table lamp on a sideboard or console and the glass dome sits close enough to really look into, catching every lead line and colour change in the shade.
One Finish, Read In The Glass
This lamp comes only in Vintage Bronze, so as with the rest of the Kami range the interest is in the glass rather than a choice of metal tones. The dome mixes warm honey and amber panels with deeper red brown florals, soft green leaf shapes and pale lilac accents, each piece hand cut and leaded, with a row of amber glass jewels running around the shade. The reeded bronze column below has a slightly darker, almost bronzed black cast, so the base reads as a quiet support rather than competing with the glass above it.
How It Works
Two E27 lamps power this fitting, and bulbs are not supplied. Each light has its own pull chain switch on the underside of the shade, so you can run one lamp or both depending on how much light you want. It is Class I, so needs an earth connection through its plug, and it will only dim if you fit dimmable bulbs. The shade measures 40.6cm across, the whole lamp stands 58.4cm tall, and it weighs 5.8kg thanks to the genuine glass and cast metal base. Being a plug in table lamp, it needs no hardwired installation, just a socket nearby.
Where It Works Best
At just under 60cm tall this suits a console table, sideboard, or a wide bedside table where the shade sits above eye line when seated. It works in a living room, bedroom, dining room or hallway. Compared with the Kami wall uplighter it gives a fuller, all round glow rather than a single upward wash, and unlike the flush ceiling fitting or pendant it needs no wiring into the ceiling at all, so it can move between rooms as you like.
Tiffany Glass, The Quoizel Way
Quoizel built much of its reputation on Tiffany style stained glass, a technique it carried well beyond the table lamp into pendants, chandeliers and wall fittings. The company remains privately owned by the Phillips family, who bought it outright in 1986 after Ira Phillips joined as Director of Merchandising and Sales back in 1964, so the glasswork on this shade sits inside a business that has stayed in the same hands for decades.
