A Hexagon Fixed Flat To The Wall
Same open hexagon as the rest of the Bismarck family, except this one skips the drop rod entirely and sits flush against a wall plate. One brass socket, one bare lamp, and a black frame that reads as a piece of graphic geometry whether it's lit or not.
Earth Black, The Only Way It Comes
The steel frame is Earth Black, flat and matt with no gloss to catch the light, set against an aged brass socket that has a soft, brushed warmth rather than a polished shine. There's a single finish here, though the listing tags black, gold and brass because you genuinely see all three in the fitting. Choose a clear lamp over a frosted one if you want the brass and the black lines to stay the star of the piece.
How It Works
One E27 lamp, fitted upright in the brass holder and left fully exposed. Bulbs are not supplied. The wall plate measures 25.4cm wide, 22cm high and projects 11.5cm from the wall, with the hexagon fixed at a set distance rather than on an adjustable arm. Dimming works if you fit a dimmable lamp on a suitable dimmer. It is Class I, so it needs an earth connection, and it should be wired in by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
This is the fixed wall version of the same 25.4cm hexagon used in the single mini pendant, except there it hangs from a rod with an adjustable drop and here it projects straight out from the wall at a set 11.5cm. Use it in pairs flanking a bed, a mirror or a hallway, where a ceiling pendant would not make sense. It reads smaller and quieter on a wall than the chandelier or linear pendant, both of which gather five hexagons rather than one.
The Abigail Adams Thread
Quoizel began in 1930 as a small Manhattan lamp company, and one of its earliest pieces, an oil burning design called the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades after the rest of the range had moved on to electric fittings. It says something about a company when a piece survives that long, usually it's proof the design was sound to start with, not just fashionable at the time. The firm is still privately run today, now by the Phillips family rather than by Michael Chaikin's original team.

Questions People Ask
Will this suit a bathroom? No ingress rating is published for this fitting, so it should stay in a dry room rather than a bathroom.
How far does it stick out from the wall? 11.5cm from the wall plate to the front of the hexagon frame, so allow clearance if it's going beside a door or a mirror edge.
Can I dim it? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 lamp and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself has no built in dimming.
