Picking the Right Metal

This is the polished brass version of Whistling, and the finish is genuinely glossy rather than satin, so expect visible reflections of the room around it. If you would rather the metal stayed quieter and hid marks better day to day, the brushed brass version of this same fitting has a soft, grained surface instead. There is also a polished chrome option if you want a cool silver tone rather than gold. Whichever you pick, the glass globe, the bulb layout and the overall size stay the same, so this is really a decision about which metal tone suits your bathroom fittings.

How It Works

Three E27 bulb holders are fitted inside the clear glass globe, and because the glass has no frosting, the bulbs themselves are part of how the fitting looks lit or unlit. Bulbs are not supplied. Wiring is Class I, so an earth connection is required and the fitting should be installed by a qualified electrician rather than as a DIY job. Fit dimmable E27 bulbs with a suitable dimmer and it will dim, though it has no dimming ability of its own with standard bulbs.

Being a flush fitting, it sits tight to the ceiling with no drop rod, which is useful in a bathroom where headroom over a bath or shower is already tight. Quoizel has stayed a family business since Ira Phillips joined as Director of Merchandising and Sales back in 1964, before buying the company outright in 1986.
