Three Lanterns for a Wider Run of Mirror

Three caged glass lanterns sit along one weathered brass bar, each with the same ribbed glass cylinder and exposed bulb look as the smaller Riggs fittings. Lined up along a double vanity, as shown in the photo, they read as a proper row of lighting rather than a single fixture stretched too wide.

The Finish

Weathered Brass is the only option here, an aged toned metal rather than a shiny new one, worked into the caps, cages and backplate. The clear glass is ribbed top to bottom around each bulb, and the close up photos show how much of the bulb itself stays visible through that glass, which is the whole point of the industrial styling.

How It Works

Three E27 LED bulbs power this fitting, none supplied, so you will need three to hand before fitting. Dimming only works if you fit dimmable E27 bulbs, matched to a compatible dimmer switch. It is a Class I fitting, requiring an earth connection, and being hardwired it needs a qualified electrician to install rather than a DIY plug in job.

Where It Works Best

At 56cm this is the widest Riggs, built for a double vanity or a long mirror run, where the 2 light version at 38.1cm would suit a single mirror and the single light at 14cm is better used in a pair.

A Lamp Still in the Catalogue Decades On

Quoizel's first products, back in 1930, were oil burning hurricane lamps, and one of those early designs, the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades after the company had long since moved into electric lighting. It says something about how the company treats a design that works, which is worth knowing when you are buying a fitting meant to stay on your wall for years rather than one season.

Is this much bigger than the 2 light Riggs? Yes, at 56cm wide it is nearly 18cm longer than the 2 light version, with a third lantern in the centre.

What bulbs does it need? Three E27 LED bulbs, bought separately, and worth matching for tone if you want an even look across all three lanterns.

Can I dim it? Only with dimmable E27 bulbs fitted alongside a compatible dimmer switch.
