An Up and Down Wall Light That Changes Colour On Command
The WL070RGBW is a wall mounted light that throws LED light both up the wall and down at once, and unlike a plain white fitting it can shift through a full range of colours or settle on a genuine white glow. Because it is RGBW rather than just RGB, that white is not a colour mix pretending to be white, it is a real white LED sitting alongside the red, green and blue diodes. For anyone looking for a colour changing outdoor wall light that still gives a proper white option when the mood calls for it, that is the detail that matters.
Silver Anodised Aluminium, Built For The Elements
This version comes in a silver anodised aluminium finish, with the pinched, hourglass style body seen across Collingwood's up and down range. The anodising gives the metal a smooth, slightly satin surface that resists the patchy weathering untreated aluminium can suffer outdoors, and the silver tone reads as a light, contemporary grey rather than a shiny chrome. Each of the two lens covers sits flush in the narrower waist of the housing, so the fitting still looks neat and architectural even when it is switched off. It pairs naturally with render, brick, stone cladding or dark timber, anywhere a clean metallic accent will not fight with the wall behind it.
How It Works
Inside, RGBW LEDs sit behind each lens, one throwing light up and one down, each spreading across a 45 degree beam. Power draw is 4W when showing red and 6W when showing green, blue or the 4000K white, so the two heads together draw up to 24W at full output. It is a low voltage fitting, which means it needs a separate driver, sold apart from the light itself, and it is wired in series so it can share a driver with other RGBW fittings on the same circuit. Colour and scene changes are handled through Collingwood's RGBW controller range rather than a dimmer switch, so once it is wired in you choose colours and sequences from the controller, not from a wall dimmer. Wall fixings are included, and the fitting weighs around 1kg.
Where It Works Best
This is built as an exterior fitting, rated IP65, so it suits house fronts, gables, garden pillars, patios and coastal properties where wind driven rain is a regular visitor. The up and down beam works well either side of a front door, along a boundary wall, or spaced across a garden building where a bit of colour after dark is wanted without floodlighting the whole space. Because it also carries a bathroom zone 1 rating, it is suitable for use in a bathroom zone 1 area too, provided the wiring and controller are installed accordingly. Read more about bathroom lighting zones before specifying it for a wet room or ensuite.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood designs and manufactures its LED fittings from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has focused on LED technology since 2002. The brand states it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed for life and mains dimmable LED products into the UK electrical wholesale market, helping push LED adoption ahead of where the wider market stood at the time. Collingwood has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
Does the WL070RGBW come with a driver?
No. It's a low voltage fitting and needs a separate driver, which is sold apart from the light and wired in series with the fitting.
Can the WL070RGBW be dimmed?
No. It's not compatible with mains dimmer switches. Colour and brightness scenes are set through a separate Collingwood RGBW controller instead.
Is the WL070RGBW suitable for a bathroom?
Yes. It carries an IP65 rating and a bathroom zone 1 classification, so it's suitable for that zone when installed correctly.
What colour temperature is the white light on the WL070RGBW?
The white output sits at 4000K, a neutral white, alongside the full red, green and blue colour range.
How much power does the WL070RGBW use?
It draws 4W when showing red and 6W when showing green, blue or white, for a combined maximum of 24W across its two light heads.
