The Armstrong 4L carries four glass globes sweeping left from a compact brass wall plate, and in Dries Ribbon glass it is the most tactile version of this small sconce. Fine threads of glass run through each globe, breaking the light into delicate, shifting shadow rather than a flat glow.

In Dries Ribbon Glass

Dries Ribbon glass is drawn by hand into fine internal ribbons, so the light passing through each globe fractures into intricate patterns on the surrounding wall. It is the most characterful of Schwung's three glass options for the Armstrong 4, best suited to interiors where craftsmanship and material detail are meant to be noticed.

Choose Your Finish

The brass frame is available in Lacquered Burnished Brass, Black Gunmetal, or Polished Nickel, each finish changing how strongly the frame competes with the textured glass for attention.

How It Works

Four E14 LED bulbs are included, 5W each, with the option to fit dimmable bulbs for use on a dimmer circuit. It measures approximately 92.2cm high by 35.2cm wide by 33.1cm deep and weighs around 9kg. It is a wall mounted sconce only. Each one is made to order in Poland, typically within 4 to 6 weeks.

Where It Works Best

Because the Dries Ribbon glass throws such a detailed shadow pattern, the 4L works best against a plain wall, in a hallway, bedroom, or beside a fireplace, where the light has room to be noticed. Mount it alone to the left of a feature, or pair it with the matching 4R for a symmetrical installation.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every fitting, from the largest chandeliers to this compact four globe sconce, is made to order from solid brass and mouth blown glass in the brand's Namyslow workshop.

Questions People Ask

What does 4L mean?
It refers to the direction the four glass globes sweep, in this case to the left of the wall plate. The 4R is the mirror image, sweeping right, so the two can be fitted as a symmetrical pair.

Does the Dries Ribbon texture affect how much light is given out?
It softens and scatters the light more than plain opal glass, so expect a more atmospheric glow with visible shadow detail rather than flat, even illumination.

As a made to order fitting, expect around 4 to 6 weeks from order to delivery.
