The Armstrong 4R carries four glass globes sweeping right from a compact brass wall plate, the mirror image of the 4L. In Dries Ribbon glass, it is the most textural of the three finishes, each globe threaded internally with fine glass ribbons that scatter the light into shifting shadow.

Dries Ribbon glass is hand drawn into delicate internal threads, so light passing through each globe fractures into intricate, changing patterns on the wall behind it. It is the choice for interiors where craftsmanship and material texture are meant to be seen up close.

Choose Your Finish

Available in Lacquered Burnished Brass, Black Gunmetal, or Polished Nickel, the brass frame can be chosen to either ground the textured glass in warmth or contrast against it with a cooler tone.

How It Works

Four E14 LED bulbs are included, 5W each, with the option to fit dimmable bulbs for a dimmer circuit. It measures approximately 92.2cm high by 35.2cm wide by 33.1cm deep and weighs around 9kg. It is a wall mounted sconce only. Each one is made to order in Poland, typically within 4 to 6 weeks.

Where It Works Best

Mount the 4R to the right of a doorway, bed head, or fireplace, alone or as a symmetrical pair with the matching 4L. Because the Dries Ribbon glass casts such a detailed shadow, it works best against a plain wall where the pattern has room to show.

Founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen, Schwung makes every fitting to order from solid brass and mouth blown glass, including this smaller Armstrong sconce, in the brand's Namyslow workshop.

What does 4R mean?
It refers to the direction the four glass globes sweep, in this case to the right of the wall plate. The 4L is the mirror image, sweeping left, designed to pair with it.

Does the Dries Ribbon glass reduce brightness?
It scatters and softens the light more than plain opal glass, so expect an atmospheric glow with visible texture rather than flat, even brightness.

Can I order just one 4R without the 4L?
Yes, it is sold and works well as a standalone fitting.
