A Light You Notice the Effect Of, Not the Fixture
The GL019 Eyelid sits flush in the ground and sends its beam sideways instead of up, so what you see is a soft wash of light along a wall or the edge of a step, rather than a glowing dot staring back at you. That asymmetric design is the whole point of an eyelid ground light. It lets you mark a path or graze a surface without any spill going up into anyone's eyes.
Finished in Black, Built From 316 Stainless Steel
This version is finished in black and made from 316 stainless steel, the same grade used in marine fittings. It's chosen here because it copes with rain, frost and buried moisture without corroding. The eyelid hood is the only part that shows once it's recessed, a neat black dome that blends into paving, decking or a border rather than drawing attention to itself.
How It Works
- Recesses into a 33mm cut out, with a compact 40mm diameter body and 55mm depth.
- Low voltage and wired in series, so it needs a separate, compatible driver. It isn't designed to run directly off mains.
- Can be set to draw 1W at 350mA for a gentler wash, or 2W at 700mA where you want more output from the same fitting.
- Available in 2700K warm white or 3000K, with a wide beam angle and a CRI of 80.
- Dimmable when paired with a suitable driver.
Where It Works Best
Because there's no upward glare, this is a good choice anywhere you want definition without a visible light source: along a garden boundary, down a run of steps, or spaced along a path where you want people to notice the edge, not the fitting. It's rated for full submersion, so a spot that floods after heavy rain or sits under a sprinkler line isn't a problem.

Does it need a separate driver?
Yes. The GL019 is low voltage and wired in series, so it needs a compatible low voltage driver to run. This isn't included with the fitting.
Will it cope with a waterlogged flower bed or a path that floods?
Yes. It's IP68 rated for full submersion, so standing water after rain isn't an issue.
Why does it only throw light to one side?
The eyelid hood is designed asymmetrically so the beam is directed outward with zero upward spill, which cuts glare and light pollution compared with a standard round ground light.
Can I dim it?
Yes, as long as it's paired with a dimmable low voltage driver.
