A Mini Ground Light Built for Tight Corners
The GL019 is Collingwood's smallest round ground light, built to sit flush into decking, paving or a path where a bigger fitting simply wouldn't fit. At around 40mm across it gives a discreet marker of light rather than a strong beam, so it can pick out a step, a path edge or a border without drawing attention to the fitting itself.
This Stainless Steel Finish
This version is built from 316 stainless steel, so it stands up to the weather without corroding over time. It's available in 2700K, 3000K or 4000K colour temperature, moving from a warm glow through to a neutral white, and in either a 12 degree spot or a 38 degree flood beam, so you can choose a tight point of light or a softer, wider spread to suit the spot it's going into.
How It Works
- Runs at 1W LED, low voltage, so it needs a separate driver rather than a direct mains connection at the fitting.
- Choose a 12 degree spot for a defined point of light, or a 38 degree flood for a wider, softer spread.
- CRI 80, for reasonably accurate colour rendering underfoot.
- Wired in series, so several GL019 fittings can share one driver.
- 33mm cutout, small enough to fit into an existing deck board or paving slab without major disruption.
Where It Works Best
Its small size makes the GL019 a good fit for places where a standard ground light would look oversized: narrow path edges, step nosings, tight gaps between decking boards, or dotted along a border to mark a route after dark. It's just as at home set into a patio or ringed around a pond or water feature edge, anywhere a subtle glow works better than a strong beam.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting has specialised in LED technology since 2002, designing and manufacturing its products from Sywell in Northamptonshire. The brand states it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully waterproof and mains dimmable LED fittings to the UK electrical wholesale market, and a sealed, walk over rated ground light like this one is a fair example of that same approach to weatherproof engineering. Collingwood has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good To Know
- IP68 rated, sealed against dust and built to handle continuous submersion, so it suits paths and decking as well as pond or water feature edges.
- Walk over rated with IK07 impact resistance, so it's fine underfoot on a path or terrace.
- Class III, low voltage, so it must be run from a suitable driver rather than wired directly to mains.
- Wired in series, so multiple GL019 fittings can share a single driver.
- Around 40mm diameter with a 33mm cutout, and weighs 0.2kg.
- Comes with a 7 year warranty.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician, since the driver this fitting runs from will usually be wired into your mains supply.
Questions People Ask
What's the difference between the spot and flood options?
The 12 degree spot gives a tighter, more defined point of light, while the 38 degree flood spreads the light more softly over a wider area.
Do I need a separate driver?
Yes. The GL019 is a low voltage fitting, so it needs a compatible LED driver rather than a direct mains connection.
Can I run more than one GL019 from a single driver?
Yes. It's wired in series, so several GL019 fittings can share one driver, provided the driver has enough capacity for the total wattage.
Is it safe to walk on?
Yes. It's walk over rated with IK07 impact resistance, so it's designed to take foot traffic on paths, patios and decking.
Can it be fitted near water, such as a pond edge?
Yes. It's IP68 rated, meaning it's sealed against dust and built to handle continuous submersion.
