Uplighting Without the Glare
The GL040 Ultra Low Glare sets its LED deep inside a baffled brass housing, so from most angles you see the light falling on a wall, tree or column rather than the fitting itself. That makes it a good option for uplighting features in a garden or on a patio without a hot spot of glare at ground level.
Antique Brass, Low Voltage
This version comes in an antique brass finish and runs on low voltage, so it needs its own driver to step the mains supply down safely. You can choose a narrower 12° spot beam or a wider 34° flood beam, and either a warmer 2700K or a slightly cooler 3000K colour temperature, depending on how tight or broad you want the light spread.
How It Works
- Recessed into a 70mm cutout, with the fitting itself 76mm in diameter and sitting 83mm deep.
- Runs on low voltage from its own driver, wired in series if you're linking more than one fitting together.
- The low glare baffle keeps the LED set back inside the housing, throwing light outward and upward rather than into your eyes.
- Rated IP68 and submersible to 9m, and IK08 for impact resistance, so it can be walked over once installed.
Where It Works Best
Ground lights like this earn their keep in driveways, patios, paths and planting beds, uplighting a tree, wall or feature from below. Because it's fully submersible and rated to take foot traffic, it also suits spots near ponds, pools or anywhere water might pool after rain, and the walk over rating means you don't need to fence it off from a path or terrace.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised in LED technology since 2002. The brand says it was among the first to bring fully waterproof, sealed for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, a heritage that shows in fittings like this one, built to sit below ground and take standing water. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
What's the difference between the 12° and 34° beam options?
The 12° beam throws a narrower, more focused spot, good for picking out a single tree or column. The 34° beam spreads the light wider, better suited to washing a broader wall or planting area.
Can this be walked over once it's fitted?
Yes. It's rated IK08 for impact resistance and designed to take foot traffic once properly recessed and installed.
Does it need a separate driver?
Yes. This is a low voltage fitting, so it needs a compatible LED driver, sold separately, to step down the mains supply.
Can it be used somewhere it might get wet or flooded?
Yes. It's rated IP68 and submersible to 9m, so it can cope with rain, standing water or being close to a pond or pool.
What's the cutout size?
It needs a 70mm cutout, with the fitting itself 76mm in diameter and 83mm deep.
