The Armstrong 6R in opal mat glass mirrors the 6L, its six globes sweeping to the right rather than the left along the same angular brass frame. Opal mat fully diffuses the LED source inside each globe, giving the most even, glare free spread of light across all three Armstrong glass options.

Because opal mat glass diffuses so completely, none of the light source is visible through the surface, only a soft, consistent white glow from each of the six globes. It's the glass to choose for a calm, broad wash of ambient light rather than pattern or texture, and it works comfortably in almost any interior style.

Choose Your Finish

Three brass finishes are available, lacquered burnished brass, polished nickel and black gunmetal, each fitted with the same six opal mat globes. The choice comes down to how warm or cool the metal should read against the wall rather than any difference in the light itself.

How It Works

Six 5W LED candelabra (E12) bulbs are included, one per globe, for 30W combined, 2700K and around 3000 lumens. It dims with a low voltage electronic or trailing edge dimmer. Overall dimensions run to approximately 139cm high, 35cm wide and 33cm deep, at around 5.8kg, and the fitting can be flush mounted to a ceiling or fixed to a wall through a single circular backplate roughly 12cm across. No IP rating is listed, so it's intended for dry indoor spaces.

Where It Works Best

Larger rooms, higher ceilings, open plan spaces and wide hallways all suit the generous, even spread opal mat glass produces. Paired with the 6L it forms a wide symmetrical installation either side of a fireplace or bed; alone, its rightward sweep still reads as a deliberate, considered fitting for a landing, staircase or feature wall.

Schwung, founded in Namyslow, Poland in 2014 by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen, treats opal mat as its most adaptable glass type across the whole Armstrong range, a description borne out by how comfortably it sits in both contemporary and more traditional rooms.

Questions People Ask

Can I buy just the 6R, or do I need the 6L too?
The 6R works perfectly well on its own. Buying both simply allows for a symmetrical pair either side of a feature.

What colour temperature is the light?
2700K, a warm white similar to a traditional incandescent bulb.

How is this cleaned?
Wipe the outside of the glass globes with a soft dry cloth, using a damp cloth first if they're dirtier, and a gentle glass cleaner for any grease. The brass frame should only be cleaned with a soft cloth or duster, dried fully before switching back on.
