The Armstrong 4R mirrors the 4L in every respect except direction, its four globes sweeping right from a central brass wall plate. In Opal Mat glass, it is the calmest of the three finishes, giving an even, diffused glow rather than a textured or patterned one.

Opal Mat glass fully diffuses the bulb inside each of the four globes, so there is no visible hotspot or filament, just a soft, consistent light. It is the most adaptable of Schwung's glass options for the Armstrong 4, suited to almost any room without competing for attention.

How It Works

Four E14 LED bulbs are included, 5W each, and the fitting takes dimmable bulbs if run from a dimmer switch. It measures approximately 92.2cm high by 35.2cm wide by 33.1cm deep and weighs around 9kg. It is a wall mounted sconce, not designed for ceiling use. Each one is made to order in Poland, typically within 4 to 6 weeks.

Where It Works Best

The 4R's right facing sweep suits the right side of a doorway, bed head, or fireplace, whether installed alone or paired with the matching 4L for a symmetrical arrangement. Its even, glareless light works well in bedrooms, hallways, and living rooms.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every Armstrong fitting, including this compact four globe sconce, is made to order in the brand's own workshop from solid brass and mouth blown glass.

What is the difference between the 4R and 4L?
The 4R's globes sweep right from the wall plate; the 4L is the mirror image, sweeping left, so the two can be installed as a matching pair either side of a feature.

Does it need to be paired with the 4L?
No, the 4R works perfectly well on its own as a single directional wall light.

Will the Opal Mat glass show the bulb inside?
No, the glass is designed to fully diffuse the light, so you see a soft glow rather than the bulb itself.
