A Tiny Copper Spike Spot for Garden Borders

The LuxR Modux 1 Spike Spot is one of the smallest low voltage garden spotlights you can buy. The head is only 31mm across, so it hides easily among planting while it lights up a shrub, a small tree or a piece of garden furniture. It sits on a solid 175mm spike that pushes straight into the soil.

Solid Copper That Ages Beautifully

This version is precision machined from solid copper. It starts out warm and bright, then gradually develops a soft natural patina outdoors, so it settles into the garden rather than standing out from it. The light source is a 1 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, which means plants and stonework look true to colour.

Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens

• Beam: 30º is a narrow beam for a single feature, 53º is a wider beam for a larger shrub, and the oval beam stretches the light into a wider, flatter shape that works well on walls and hedges.
• Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
• Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.

How It Works

Push the spike into the soil and angle the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced, and the optic can be swapped to change the beam width, so you can change the look later without buying a new light.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

This is a good choice for small borders, pots, steps and the base of a tree, anywhere a larger spotlight would look out of scale. Use it on its own for a single feature, or in a group to build a layered scheme. If you want more output, the same design is also available as the larger M2 and M4.

How big is the Modux 1 spike spot?

Does it come with a driver?

No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.

Will the copper change colour?
