A recessed eyelid step light in solid copper with an integrated Hunza Pure LED chip, for outdoor steps, low walls and path edges. The fixed eyelid hood shades the light source and throws it down across the tread. Low voltage, wired in series with a remote driver, no separate bulb to buy.

A Recessed Eyelid Step Light With Integrated LED
The Hunza Pure LED Step Light Eyelid takes the same recessed eyelid shape and builds the LED straight into the fitting, rather than relying on a separate lamp you buy and replace. The curved eyelid hood still covers the top half of the light source, sending the beam down across the step tread rather than out towards eye level, but here there is no bulb to source or swap in and out.
Solid Copper
This version is made from solid copper, the flange and the eyelid hood both, held together with two visible fixing screws. Left outdoors, copper changes colour over time, moving from a bright pink through soft brown towards a green patina, and no two installations weather in quite the same way. If the exact stage of that patina matters to you, ask Moonlight Design for a physical swatch before you order.
How It Works
Hunza Pure LED uses a Cree LED chip built into the fitting, with parts that can be serviced rather than a lamp you replace yourself. The eyelid hood is fixed in place and always shades roughly half of the light source, directing it down and forward across the step. Pure LED fittings are wired in series with a remote driver, not in parallel like a standard low voltage halogen circuit, so it needs planning in alongside the rest of your Pure LED run.
- Recessed body: 63.5mm diameter, 68.5mm length
- Flange: 88mm diameter, 33.5mm depth
- Cut out size: 63.5mm
- Cable: 1m HO7RNF included
- 600 lumens at 1050mA (6 watts), 90+ CRI
- Available in 15°, 25°, 38° or 60° beam angles and 2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K colour temperatures
- Dimmable with a suitable dimmable driver
- Low voltage, wired in series with a remote driver (driver sold separately)
If you would rather use a separate replaceable MR16 lamp instead of an integrated LED, the standard Step Light Eyelid in the same copper finish uses that arrangement instead.
Where It Works Best
This eyelid step light suits outdoor steps, staircases, low retaining walls and garden walls, wherever you want a controlled wash of light across the tread beneath rather than glare at eye level. Because the LED is sealed into the fitting, it also suits installations where you would rather not think about bulb changes for years at a time.
Our Own Installations
The in situ photographs on this page, showing the eyelid recessed into brick and timber steps and lit at night, are Moonlight Design's own designs and installations. They are not stock imagery. We photograph the step lights we actually plan and fit in real gardens, so you can see how the light genuinely falls once the brickwork and planting settle in around it.
Good to Know
- Usually ships in 2–3 days. If out of stock, allow 3–5 weeks.
- Returns are accepted within 14 days if the fitting is unused, uninstalled and in its original packaging.
- The LED chip is integrated and serviceable rather than a bulb you replace yourself.
- Needs a suitable low voltage driver, sold separately, wired in series rather than in parallel.
- Backed by a 10 year warranty, with a 5 year warranty on the LED itself.
- Colours shown are for guidance only. Copper weathers and every batch varies slightly, so ask us for a swatch if the exact tone matters.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
Do I need to buy a separate bulb for this fitting?
No. Pure LED fittings have the LED chip built in. The parts are serviceable if it ever needs attention, rather than a lamp you replace yourself.
Can this be wired the same way as a standard low voltage eyelid step light?
No. Pure LED fittings are wired in series with a remote driver, not in parallel with a transformer, so plan your circuit accordingly if you are mixing it with other Hunza fittings.
Is this eyelid step light dimmable?
Yes, provided it is paired with a suitable dimmable driver.
What colour temperature and beam angle options are there?
It is available in 2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K, and in 15°, 25°, 38° or 60° beam angles, so let us know which you need when ordering.
