An adjustable integrated LED spotlight for the ground
The Hunza Pure LED Spike Spot Adjustable is the dedicated LED version of Hunza's ground spike spotlight, built around a light engine rather than a separate lamp. It mounts on a ground spike rather than a wall bracket, pushing straight into a border, lawn edge or planting bed, and the head tilts and rotates so you can aim the beam precisely.
This version is solid copper and runs on low voltage.
The copper finish
Solid copper, not plated, so it will weather and darken outdoors over time, developing a deeper tone and, in some settings, a green verdigris. Hunza designs the finish to age this way.
How it works
This isn't a fitting that takes a replaceable MR16 or GU10 lamp. Instead, a Cree LED chip is built into the fitting itself, delivering 600 lumens at 6 watts with a CRI of 90+ at 3000K. Hunza treats the chip as a serviceable part rather than sealed for life, though it isn't something you buy off the shelf and swap yourself the way you would a standard lamp. At the point of ordering you choose colour temperature (2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K), beam angle (15, 25, 38 or 60 degrees) and lens (clear or frosted), so the fitting arrives set up for its intended use. It measures 62.5mm across the head, 74mm along the body, with a 200mm spike and 1m of cable supplied. Being low voltage, it needs a suitable LED driver rather than a standard transformer, and this range is wired in series, so your electrician will need to plan the circuit accordingly. It can be dimmed if a suitable dimmable driver is used.
Where it works best
Good anywhere you want a single point of light without a wall to fix to: freestanding trees, island beds, statues, or a path through open lawn, with the simplicity of a built in LED rather than a lamp you need to keep in stock.
Our own installations
The photographs on this page are from our own completed projects, not stock imagery: illuminating a metal leaf sculpture at dusk, lighting clipped trees in a courtyard planting bed, lighting bamboo beside a front door and entrance, uplighting a stand of bamboo, and uplighting silver birch trunks against a timber fence. Moonlight Design has worked with Hunza since we were founded in 2003, over 23 years across their range.
Good to know
- Made to order: usually ships within 2 to 3 days. If your specification is temporarily out of stock, allow 3 to 5 weeks.
- Returns: this fitting can be returned within 14 days of delivery if unused, uninstalled and in original packaging.
- The Cree LED chip is built into the fitting rather than a swappable retail lamp. Hunza treats it as a serviceable part rather than something to replace yourself.
- Check your colour temperature, beam angle and lens choice carefully before ordering, as these are made to order specifications.
- Requires a suitable LED driver, sold separately. This range is wired in series, so your electrician will need to plan the circuit run accordingly.
- Warranty: 10 years on the fitting, 5 years on the LED itself.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
Can I replace the LED myself if it fails? Not in the way you'd swap a standard MR16 lamp. The Cree LED chip is built into the fitting and is a serviceable part rather than an off the shelf bulb, so a repair would go through Hunza or a qualified electrician rather than a simple DIY swap.
What's the difference between this and the standard Spike Spot Adjustable? The standard version takes a separate, replaceable MR16 or GU10 lamp. This Pure LED version has the LED built into the fitting itself, with colour temperature, beam angle and lens fixed at the point of ordering.
Does this need a transformer? It needs a suitable LED driver rather than a standard transformer, and the fittings are wired in series, so it's worth having your electrician confirm the circuit design before installation.
Can this be dimmed? Yes, if it's run from a suitable dimmable driver.
