A High Output Spotlight with a Built In LED
This PureLED version of the Hunza Pole Spot replaces the usual MR16 lamp with a factory fitted Cree LED chip rated at 600 lumens, considerably brighter than the standard Pole Spot's user supplied bulb. It is built for lighting larger trees and features that need more punch than a domestic accent light provides.
Solid Copper
Left unlacquered, the copper body will darken and develop a natural patina with weather exposure rather than staying bright, the same way old garden metalwork always has. This is expected and is part of the character of the finish rather than a fault.
How It Works
- The integrated Cree LED chip is field replaceable, outputting 600 lumens at 6 watts, with a CRI of 90 or above at 3000K.
- Wired in series through a remote driver, and dimmable if a suitable dimmable driver is used.
- Choose your beam angle, 15, 25, 38 or 60 degrees, and colour temperature, 2200K to 4000K, at the point of purchase.
- Rated IP56/IP66, and backed by a 10 year warranty on the fitting, with the LED chip covered for 5 years.
Where It Works Best
The higher output suits larger trees, taller architectural features or facades that would look underlit by a standard MR16 Pole Spot, while the copper finish suits period gardens and brick or stone settings.
The photographs on this page are all taken from Moonlight Design's own projects, including a Pole Spot uplighting a tree in a garden border at night, giving a sense of the beam and tone this fitting produces once installed.
Designed and Made in New Zealand
Hunza has hand assembled outdoor lighting in Auckland, New Zealand for more than 30 years, according to the brand, and the PureLED range extends that engineering into a serviceable, high output fitting rather than a disposable one.
Good to Know
- The solid copper finish will darken and patina naturally with weather exposure. This is normal and does not need to be prevented or polished away.
- The Cree LED chip is built in, so there is no separate bulb to buy.
- Requires a suitable dimmable low voltage driver to dim. Without one, it will run at fixed output.
- Moonlight Design recommends that all outdoor lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
How much brighter is this than the standard Pole Spot?
This version outputs 600 lumens from a factory fitted Cree LED chip, considerably more than the standard Pole Spot, which relies on whichever MR16 bulb you choose to fit.
What beam angle should I choose?
It's available in 15, 25, 38 or 60 degrees, so the spread of light can be matched to the size of the tree or feature being lit.
Can this Pole Spot be dimmed?
Yes, when it is wired to a suitable dimmable low voltage driver. Without one it will operate at a fixed output.
Will the copper finish change colour over time?
Yes, it is supplied uncoated and will darken and patina naturally with weather exposure, which is expected and does not need polishing to prevent it.
How long is the warranty?
10 years on the fitting, with the integrated LED chip covered separately for 5 years.
