A Two Way Pillar Light in Solid Copper
The Hunza Pure LED Pillar Light is a wall mounted copper cylinder that sends light both up and down from a single fitting. Mounted on a gate pillar, entrance wall or terrace corner, it draws a soft scallop of light above and below itself and brings out the texture of the masonry in between. This low voltage version has an integrated Cree LED chip at each end, so there is no separate lamp to buy, and the LED board is field replaceable.
Solid Copper That Changes With the Weather
This one is made from solid copper rather than a plated or painted finish, and Hunza designs it to be left outdoors and allowed to patina. New, it has a bright, warm copper colour. Over the seasons it deepens to brown and eventually to a soft green, much as a copper roof or gutter does. A small H makers mark is pressed into the metal. If you would prefer a finish that stays put, the same fitting is also made in 316 stainless steel and powder coated aluminium.
How It Works
- Light goes up and down at the same time, so one fitting covers both the wall above and the wall below it.
- Each end has its own Cree LED chip, rated at 600 lumens from 6 watts with a CRI of 90 or more at 3000K.
- Choose your colour temperature (2200K, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K), beam angle (15, 25, 38 or 60 degrees) and a clear or frosted lens when you order. Narrow beams give a tight scallop on the wall, wider beams spread further.
- Body diameter 63.5mm and body length 139mm, on a 78mm diameter base 28mm deep, supplied with 1m of cable.
- Low voltage and wired in series, so it needs a remote LED driver such as the Hunza 1050mA driver, sold separately.
- Dimmable when used with a suitable dimmable driver.
- Rated IP66 and backed by a 10 year warranty, with 5 years on the LED.
- A mains version, the Pure LED Pillar Light Retro, is also made if you would rather not run low voltage cable.
Where It Works Best
- On brick or stone gate pillars, to mark an entrance from both directions
- Either side of a front door or garage, where a pair gives a symmetrical wash of light
- On garden walls and piers along a driveway or terrace edge
- Anywhere you want a simple up and down effect without fitting two separate lights
Planning Your Scheme With Us
Moonlight Design has worked with Hunza since 2003. We design lighting schemes for gardens, supply Hunza fittings like this one and install them with NICEIC registered electricians. The project photographs on our Design Service page show our own completed lighting schemes, and explain how we plan a layout, draw it up and install it. If you would like a scheme planned for your own garden, or just a second opinion on where this light should go, that is the place to start.
Good to Know
- Made to order: usually ships within 2 to 3 days. If your specification is temporarily out of stock, allow 3 to 5 weeks.
- Returns accepted within 14 days if the fitting is unused, uninstalled and in its original packaging.
- The LED is built in, so there is no separate lamp to buy, and the LED board is field replaceable.
- Needs a remote LED driver, sold separately. Wired in series, so your electrician should plan the circuit before installation.
- Solid copper will darken and patina outdoors. This is normal and not a fault.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
Does this light shine up and down at the same time?
Yes. Each end of the cylinder has its own LED, so the fitting lights the wall above and below it together.
Will the copper stay bright?
No. Solid copper is a natural finish that Hunza expects to darken and patina outdoors, moving from bright copper toward brown and eventually green over time.
Which beam angle should I choose?
Narrower beams of 15 or 25 degrees give a tight, defined scallop of light, while 38 or 60 degrees spread a softer wash across more of the wall.
Do I need anything else to run this?
Yes. It is a low voltage fitting wired in series, so it needs a remote LED driver, sold separately.
