A Strip Of Light With No Visible Dots
Look along most LED strips and you can still pick out the individual points of light. The LSP is built to blur that away. It packs 238 chips into every metre, spaced closely enough that the line reads as one continuous glow rather than a row of dots, especially useful if you're bouncing the light off a surface indirectly rather than looking straight at it.
One Reel, Three Colour Temperatures
This 5m reel is sold in 2700K, 3000K or 4000K, so you can match it to whatever else is lit in the room. The warmest 2700K option runs at 1960 lumens across the full reel, 3000K steps up to 2000 lumens, and the coolest 4000K version reaches 2240 lumens, all from the same 14W/m power draw and CRI80 colour rendering.
How It Works
- Runs at 14W/m across a 5m reel, powered by a 24V DC driver that isn't included
- Wired in parallel, so brightness stays even along the whole run rather than dropping off towards the end
- Dimmable, but only when paired with a driver built for dimming, a standard driver won't do it
- Copper conductors sit under the LEDs, and Class I construction means the fitting needs to be properly earthed once wired in
Where It Works Best
Because the LSP is bright enough to work as a main light source rather than just an accent, it opens up strip lighting for jobs that need real output, coving that actually lights the room it's fitted in, or a run under a shelf that does more than add a soft edge glow. It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, offices and stairs, anywhere you want an even wash of light rather than a visible line of individual LEDs. It's rated IP20, so it's built for dry indoor spaces rather than bathrooms or anywhere it might get wet.
Collingwood Lighting
The LSP is part of Collingwood's wider LED strip system, built by a brand that has specialised in LED technology since 2002. Collingwood designs and manufactures its LED products, strip included, from its base in Sywell, Northamptonshire, and states it was among the first to bring mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market. It has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Covered by a 5 year warranty from Collingwood
- Cutting the strip to length makes it non returnable, so measure the run before you cut
- IP20 rated, suited to dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms or outdoor use
- Requires a 24V DC driver, sold separately, and dimming needs a driver built for that purpose
- Class I electrical construction, so it must be properly earthed as part of the installation
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician
Questions People Ask
- Does the LSP come with a driver? No, it needs a separate 24V DC driver to run, and that isn't included with the reel.
- Can I see individual LED dots along the strip? The LSP packs 238 chips per metre, close enough together that the light reads as one continuous line in most profiles rather than a row of points.
- What's the difference between the 2700K, 3000K and 4000K versions? They're the same strip at different colour temperatures, running from 1960 lumens at 2700K up to 2240 lumens at 4000K, so pick whichever suits the room's other lighting.
- Can I cut the strip to a shorter length? Yes, but once it's cut it can't be returned, so it's worth checking the run length carefully first.
- Is this strip suitable for a bathroom? No, it's rated IP20, which means it's built for dry indoor spaces rather than anywhere it could get wet or steamy.
