A Quiet Glow Along the Path
The GL100 sits flush into paving, decking or a lawn edge and throws a single, gentle beam of light in one direction. It's built to mark a step or line a path rather than flood an area, so a garden keeps its night time calm instead of competing with bright spotlights.
Stainless Steel, One Facet
This version is finished in stainless steel 316, the same grade used in marine fittings, so it holds up well against weather, salt air and being walked over. The single facet design has one light window rather than the two or four found on other GL100 variants, giving one directional glow rather than light spilling out on several sides.
How It Works
- Runs at 1W on a 350mA driver or 2W on a 700mA driver, giving roughly 3 to 4 lumens or 5 to 6 lumens depending on which you choose.
- 75° beam angle and CRI 80 for reasonably natural colour rendering outdoors.
- Available in 2700K, 3000K or 4000K.
- The dome is 40mm in diameter and 46mm deep, fitting into a 33mm cutout.
- Low voltage, so it needs a separate driver, not included, sized to the number of ground lights running from it.
- Wired in series, with JB2, JB4 or JB6 waterproof connectors sold separately for linking several fittings together.
- Can be dimmed when paired with a suitable driver.
Where It Works Best
Because the output is deliberately low, a single GL100 rarely makes much impact on its own. They earn their keep in a run, spaced along a path edge, a step line or the border of a patio, where a series of small glows leads the eye rather than lighting the ground itself. The IP68 rating and walk over strength mean it's just as happy set into a driveway, a coastal terrace or anywhere that sits under standing water after rain.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood has been developing LED technology since 2002 from its base in Sywell, Northamptonshire, where its products are designed and manufactured. The brand says it was among the first to bring fully sealed, waterproof for life LED fittings to the UK electrical wholesale market, a claim the GL100's IP68 rating and submersible housing put into practice. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- IP68 rated and submersible to 9 metres, so it copes with standing water, rain and irrigation without issue.
- Walk over rated with IK07 impact resistance, built to take foot traffic and light vehicle loads.
- Comes with a 7 year warranty.
- Class III low voltage fitting. A separate driver is required and not included with this listing.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician, since the driver supplying it will need connecting to the mains.
Questions People Ask
Does this come with a driver?
No. The GL100 is low voltage and needs a separate driver, chosen to suit the number of ground lights being run from it.
Can I link more than one together?
Yes. They're wired in series and use JB2, JB4 or JB6 waterproof connectors, sold separately, to join multiple fittings on the same run.
Will it survive a puddle or a hosepipe?
Yes. It's IP68 rated and submersible to 9 metres, so standing water, rain and cleaning with a hose all fall well within what it's built for.
What does 1 facet mean?
The facet count refers to the number of light windows in the dome. This 1 facet version throws light in a single direction, while 2 and 4 facet versions in the same range spread light across more sides.
