A light you feel underfoot, not one you see
Most of the drama in a garden at night comes from the fittings you never notice. This little ground light sits flush into a path or step, doing its job quietly from below rather than glowing from a fixture on show. You get the light along the edge you need, without a lamp post or spike interrupting the view.
Antique brass, two facets facing one way
This version comes in an antique brass finish that will age gracefully outdoors, picking up a soft patina over time rather than looking tired. It has two facet windows built into the dome, both facing the same direction, so light spreads a little wider along one edge of a step or path rather than the single narrow beam you get from a one window version in the same range.
How It Works
- Output is 1W at 350mA or 2W at 700mA, giving you a choice of brightness for the same fitting
- Available in 2700K or 3000K, both with a CRI of 80
- Beam angle is 75 degrees, spreading light across the facet openings rather than pinpointing it
- This is a low voltage, Class III fitting, so it needs a separate driver rather than a mains connection at the fitting itself
- Wiring is in series, so several ground lights can be linked back to one driver
- Dimmable when paired with a suitable driver
Where It Works Best
Think of the edges of a garden that need a gentle marker after dark. A run of steps down to a lower patio, the border of a deck, a path through planting, or the line of a driveway all benefit from a light that sits flush and does not get in the way during the day. Because it takes real foot traffic, it also suits anywhere people are likely to walk directly over the fitting, not just alongside it.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has focused on LED technology since 2002. A ground light like this one is a good example of the brand's approach: it needs to survive being walked on, rained on and occasionally flooded, and Collingwood says it was among the first to bring genuinely sealed for life, fully waterproof LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market. The company has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5 percent of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Rated IP68 and submersible to 9m, so it copes with standing water, rain and being walked on in all weather
- IK07 rated for impact resistance and built with walk over strength for regular foot traffic
- Comes with a 7 year warranty
- Class III, low voltage, requires a separate LED driver, sold apart from the fitting
- Wired in series, so plan the number of fittings against your driver's rated capacity
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician, since a mains connected driver is involved
Questions People Ask
Do I need a separate driver for this light?
Yes. This is a low voltage fitting, so it needs a suitable LED driver rather than a direct mains connection.
Can I run more than one of these from a single driver?
Yes. The fittings are wired in series, so several can be linked back to one driver as long as the driver is sized for the combined wattage.
Is it safe to walk directly on this light?
Yes. It is built with walk over strength and rated IK07 for impact resistance, so it is designed to take regular foot traffic.
Will it survive standing water or a flooded path?
Yes. It carries an IP68 rating and is submersible to 9m, so temporary flooding or puddling will not damage it.
What does "2 facets, 1 direction" actually mean?
This version has two window openings in the dome that both face the same way, spreading light a little wider along one edge, rather than the narrower spot you get from a single window version.
What colour temperatures are available?
This light is available in 2700K or 3000K, so you can match it to warmer or slightly cooler existing garden lighting.
