A Frosted Glow You Can Walk Over
The GL050 sits flush in the ground and throws a soft, frosted glow rather than a sharp pinpoint of light. It's built to mark the edge of a path, the corner of a patio or the border of a flower bed without dazzling anyone who looks straight at it. Because it's rated to take foot and vehicle traffic, it works just as well set into a driveway as it does in a lawn.
Stainless Steel, Built to Stay Outside
This version is finished in 316 stainless steel, the marine grade often used on coastal or exposed sites because it resists corrosion so well. It comes as a warm white 3000K or a neutral white 4000K fitting, both with the same wide 100 degree beam that spreads light across an area instead of focusing it into one spot. A 2700K option can be ordered too, though it needs a 90 day lead time and a minimum order quantity.
How It Works
The GL050 is a low voltage, Class III fitting, so it needs a separate driver rather than running straight off the mains. Several fittings can be wired in series from one driver, which keeps cable runs simpler when you're lighting a longer path or a run of steps. The frosted lens sits over the LED, diffusing the light before it reaches the surface.
Where It Works Best
Because it's rated IP68 and can handle full submersion, the GL050 suits ground that gets properly wet, not just rained on. Think lawns that puddle, borders near a pond, or a path that floods in winter. The IK08 impact rating and genuine walk over rating mean it can sit in a driveway or a patio where it will actually be stepped or driven on, not just admired from a distance.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED fittings from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and a ground light like this one is a good example of what that focus produces. Something built to be sealed for life rather than merely splash proof. The brand says it was among the first to bring waterproof, sealed for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, alongside fire rated and mains dimmable ranges. It has specialised in LED technology since 2002, and has been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
Does it need a transformer? Yes. It's a low voltage fitting and needs a separate driver, it won't run directly off the mains supply.
Can it be driven over? Yes. It carries a genuine walk over rating along with an IK08 impact rating, so it's built for driveways and patios as well as paths.

What's the difference between the 3000K and 4000K versions? 3000K gives a warm white glow, 4000K gives a cooler neutral white. Both use the same 100 degree beam.
