A Ground Light Built to Not Blind You
Most ground lights throw a fair amount of glare back up at anyone walking straight towards them, which is exactly the problem the GL019 Ultra Low Glare was designed to solve. This mini LED ground light sits inside a deeper recessed lens than Collingwood's standard GL019, pulling the light source further back into the housing so it's far more comfortable to look at from a low angle, the angle you're actually at when you're walking along a path towards one.
Finished in Black, Low Voltage
This version comes in a black finish, with a compact round face that reads as a dark, low profile disc once it's set into the ground rather than a fitting that draws attention to itself. It's a low voltage fitting, and you can choose between a 2700K or 3000K colour temperature and a 12 degree spot or 38 degree flood beam, so the same housing can throw a tight pool of light or a wider spread depending on which option you pick.
How It Works
- Runs at 150mA, drawing around 0.4W for 36 to 44 lumens, or stepped up to 350mA for about 1W and 77 to 95 lumens, depending on beam angle and colour temperature.
- Needs a separate low voltage driver, with the fitting wired in series rather than powered directly from the mains.
- Dimmable when paired with a suitable driver.
- Measures 40mm in diameter and 75mm in depth.
- Rated IP68, so it copes with standing water and burial as well as everyday damp.
Where It Works Best
This is a fitting for anywhere people walk towards a light rather than past it: garden paths, terraces, driveways, and steps where a fitting is set into the ground facing oncoming foot traffic. The deeper recessed lens is what makes it worth choosing over the standard GL019 in these spots, since it keeps the light source out of direct eye line instead of glaring at anyone approaching. The IP68 rating means it's equally happy set into a lawn edge as it is on a covered terrace.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised in LED technology since 2002. The company states it was among the first to bring fully waterproof, sealed for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, a claim this ground light's IP68 rating backs up in practice. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
- What makes the Ultra Low Glare version different from the standard GL019? It uses a deeper recessed lens, which pulls the light source further into the housing and cuts down glare when the fitting is viewed from a low angle, such as walking towards it along a path.
- Does this ground light come with its own driver? No, it needs a separate low voltage driver, wired in series, which is sold separately.
- What's the difference between the 12 degree and 38 degree options? The 12 degree option gives a tighter spot beam, while the 38 degree option spreads the light over a wider flood, so the choice depends on how focused or broad you need the light to be.
- Can this be used indoors as well as outdoors? Yes, it's IP68 rated, which covers both indoor and outdoor use, including areas where standing water is possible.
- Is it dimmable? Yes, but only when it's run through a driver that supports dimming.
