Le Klint

Le Klint is a Danish lighting brand built around hand pleated paper shades, a technique that traces back to around 1900, when the architect P V Jensen Klint folded a lampshade inspired by Japanese origami to soften the light of a petroleum lamp. His son Tage Klint founded the company formally in 1943, and Esben Klint's Model 107, designed in 1942, remains part of the range today. Shades are still cross pleated by hand at Le Klint's workshop in Odense, and the brand has worked with designers including Rikke Frost, Hallgeir Homstvedt, Jonah Takagi and Lise Navne on newer collections. At Moonlight Design you'll find Le Klint's pendants, chandeliers, table, floor and wall lamps, from the classic pleated paper Snowdrop, Bouquet and Caleo families through to the Plivello and Lamella ranges, alongside metal and aluminium designs such as Carronade and Shibui that sit outside the pleated tradition but share the same considered, sculptural approach.
