Wider Tiers, Bolder Rhythm

The 112 steps up to a wider, taller silhouette than the 110 and 111, giving Plivello's tiered form more presence. Christian Troels designed the range in 2022 to show the pleating technique repeated in a stacked, architectural rhythm.

How it works

It stands 64cm high with a 48cm diameter, on an E27 fitting with a maximum recommended 25W LED (bulb not included), and hangs on 300cm of round, white cord that can be shortened as needed.

Where it works best

Its wider spread of light suits it to a dining table or a stairwell with height to spare, where the tiered shade can be seen from below as well as from the side.

An idea born from a petroleum lamp

The technique goes back to around 1900, when architect P.V. Jensen-Klint pleated a paper shade to soften the glare of a petroleum lamp, drawing on Japanese origami folding. That solution grew into a refined family craft, and Tage Klint went on to found Le Klint as a company in 1943.

Wider tiers, same hand folding

The 112's wider tiers simply take longer to fold by hand than the smaller sizes in the range, but every one is still pleated in Le Klint's Odense workshop using that same cross pleating technique, a skill it takes new folders around a year to learn and two to three years to master.
