The Caleo Original is the largest and most dramatic pendant in the range, the full scale expression of Rikke Frost's winning design from Denmark's Next Classic in 2019. It comes only in the paper and bronze combination, the stringing at its most visible across the widest shade in the collection.

How it works

It stands 60cm high with a 60cm diameter, on an E27 fitting with a maximum recommended 20W LED (bulb not included), and hangs on 300cm of round, linen coloured cord.

Where it works best

Its scale suits a double height space, a large dining table or a stairwell, anywhere a single pendant needs to hold its own as the main light in the room.

Made By Le Klint

Rikke Frost's Caleo design sits within a much older tradition at Le Klint. Hand pleating began around 1900, when P.V. Jensen-Klint folded a paper shade for a petroleum lamp, drawing on Japanese origami to soften its light. It remained a family craft for decades until Tage Klint founded Le Klint as a company in 1943, following Esben Klint's 1942 Model 107 pendant, still regarded as the brand's heritage piece. Every shade, from the smallest pendant to the Caleo Original, is hand pleated today in Le Klint's Odense workshop, where it takes a new folder about a year to learn the technique and two to three years more to master it fully.
