The Odyssey Santorini Small takes the familiar arched glass cloche of the Odyssey family and finishes it in the warm, sun bleached colourway exclusive to the Santorini collection, then scales it down to the most compact size in the range. It's a quiet, intimate fitting rather than a statement piece, built for spaces where a soft point of light matters more than presence on the wall.

Mouth Blown Opal Glass, Softer Colourway

The cloche is opal mat glass, mouth blown in cast iron moulds, which gives the frosted surface a gentle irregularity and a soft, even glow rather than a hard edged light. The sun bleached finish on the brass arm takes its reference from whitewashed Cycladic buildings, giving the Small a warmer, more textured feel than the standard Odyssey finishes.

How It Works

The Santorini Small takes a single E14/E12, G45 shaped LED bulb (maximum length 80mm), supplied at 5W and producing 450 to 500 lumens of warm white 3000K light. Maximum bulb wattage is 15W, and it's dimmable only with compatible electronic dimmers (ELV or trailing edge types). It carries an IP20 rating, for dry indoor rooms only. The glass cloche measures approximately 150mm in height by 100mm in diameter, and the complete fitting measures around 230mm in height by 105mm in width, projecting 142mm from the wall. It weighs approximately 1.9kg.

Where It Works Best

Its scale suits tight spaces: a narrow hallway, either side of a bed, or a dressing room wall where a larger sconce would overwhelm the room. It suits interiors built around natural materials, stone, linen, lime plaster and terracotta, and looks particularly good against a plain painted wall where it can act as the point of interest rather than compete with a busy background.

Founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen, Schwung makes every fitting to order at its own workshop. According to Schwung, the Santorini colourway was developed to bring some of the bleached, sun worn character of the Greek islands into a solid brass fitting, and it's finished by hand across the whole Santorini range.

How does the Santorini Small differ from the standard Odyssey Small?
They share the same size and mechanics. The difference is the finish: the Santorini Small has a warm, sun bleached colourway exclusive to the Santorini collection, rather than the standard Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass or Polished Nickel options.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No, it's IP20 rated, which limits it to dry indoor rooms. It isn't intended for bathroom use.

Can I dim it?
Yes, but only with a compatible electronic dimmer (ELV or trailing edge). Standard dimmers are not compatible with the supplied LED bulb.
