One Globe, One Extending Arm
The Schwung Milan 1 Arm floor lamp holds a single transparent glass globe at the tip of an extending brass arm, the arm reaching out from a slender pole that rises from a weighted circular base. It's a lamp built around precision, positioning a single point of light exactly where it's needed while keeping the overall silhouette clean and minimal.
One Globe in Transparent Glass
The globe measures 250mm in diameter, in clear borosilicate glass that leaves the bulb inside fully visible. With the arm extended, the globe can be brought forward and down towards a chair or sofa, the transparent glass giving a warm, direct glow with the filament clearly visible, rather than a softened ambient light.
Choose Your Finish
The Milan 1 Arm is available with its brass arm and base in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass or Polished Nickel. Black Gunmetal gives the arm and pole a dark, minimal profile against the glass. Lacquered Burnished Brass keeps a warm, traditional brass tone through the full height of the lamp. Polished Nickel adds a cooler, reflective surface along the arm and pole.
How It Works
The globe takes a single 1.6W G4 LED bulb, included, giving a warm 2700K glow at around 180 lumens. The lamp is dimmable, but only with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers. It runs from a 3 metre cable with an inline on/off switch and plug, the switch positioned around 500mm from the base. With the arm extended, the lamp reaches up to 1700mm in height and 1130mm in length, with a circular base measuring 305mm in diameter and 45mm in height. The complete fitting weighs 14kg. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and carries CE/UL certification with a 2 year warranty.
Where It Works Best
The Milan 1 Arm is suited to a reading chair or the end of a sofa, where the extending arm can bring the globe directly over a book or a lap without needing a side table beneath it. It also works well in a bedroom corner, where a single directed light source is more useful than a broad ambient glow. Given its 14kg weight and reach, position it where the arm has room to extend without obstruction.
Made by Schwung
Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every Milan lamp is made to order in solid brass and hand blown glass at the Namyslow workshop. Schwung names its floor lamps individually within the range, and the Milan's single extending arm is designed as a more directional counterpart to the fixed column format used elsewhere, such as in the Zosia.
