Twenty One Globes, Threaded With Light
Twenty one glass globes, in two sizes, cluster around a linear brass frame in the same rolling, layered formation as the rest of the Glow range, but in Dries Ribbon glass the effect is entirely different. Fine drawn threads run through each globe, catching the light and casting intricate, overlapping shadows across ceiling and walls rather than diffusing it into a flat glow. Across twenty one globes, that effect multiplies into a shifting field of fine, moving shadow patterns that changes throughout the day.
Dries Ribbon Glass, Schwung's Most Artisanal Finish
Dries Ribbon is Schwung's most labour intensive signature glass, its clear body threaded with fine internal lines drawn into the glass while it is still molten. Because each globe is mouth blown and threaded by hand, the exact pattern of threads varies slightly from one globe to the next, so no two Glow 21 chandeliers in this finish are ever quite identical.
Choose Your Finish
The linear brass frame is available in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass, or Polished Nickel, so the metal tone can complement or contrast with the fine detail of the ribbon glass.
How It Works
The Glow 21 takes 21 x 5W LED bulbs (E14/E12 base, included), together producing between 9,450 and 10,500 lumens at a warm 3000K, for a total of 105W. It is dimmable, but only with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers. The frame measures 805mm in diameter and is made up of 12 globes at 200mm diameter and 9 globes at 150mm diameter. Fixing rods are supplied to set the drop between 1,131mm and 1,881mm on a fixed ceiling, or 1,081mm to 1,981mm on a vaulted one, and the fully assembled fitting weighs approximately 30kg. The fitting is rated IP20, so it is intended for dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms. All rods and bulbs are included.
Where It Works Best
A dining room, a stairwell, or an entrance hall with height to spare, somewhere the chandelier will be seen switched on after dark as much as during the day, since the ribbon glass rewards direct light passing through it. This is a fitting for a space where it is expected to be the main event, not a background piece.
Made by Schwung
Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, the Dries Ribbon technique involves drawing fine threads of glass into the body of each globe while it is still molten, which is why the brand describes it as the most labour intensive of its three signature finishes.

Questions People Ask
What does Dries Ribbon glass look like when the light is off?
Even unlit, the fine threads drawn through each globe are visible as a subtle texture within the clear glass, giving the chandelier character during the day as well as after dark.
Is every Glow 21 in Dries Ribbon glass identical?
No, because each globe is hand blown and threaded individually, minor variation in the thread pattern from one globe to the next is normal and expected.
How much ceiling height do I need?
With the shortest rods fitted, the drop starts at 1,131mm on a standard fixed ceiling, so measure carefully against your ceiling height before ordering.
