A Quietly Luxurious Pair
The Armstrong Dual in marble glass takes the smallest configuration in the Armstrong range, two globes extending in opposite directions from a central brass point, and gives it a warmer, more layered glow than the plainer opal version. The milky, softly veined glass means no two Duals in marble glass are ever quite identical.
In Marble Glass
Marble glass diffuses light through a body of fine internal veining, giving a richer, more textured glow than a flat opal finish. Even at this compact two globe scale, the effect reads as considered rather than accidental, the light settling into warm, layered tones rather than a single even wash.
Choose Your Finish
The frame is available in lacquered burnished brass, polished nickel, or black gunmetal, all carrying the same two marble globes. Burnished brass tends to sit closest to the glass's own warm tone, while black gunmetal offers the most contrast.
How It Works
Two 5W LED candelabra (E12) bulbs are included, one per globe, for 10W combined at 2700K and around 1000 lumens. It's dimmable with a low voltage electronic or trailing edge dimmer. The sconce measures approximately 64cm high, 15cm wide and 17cm deep, weighing around 2.2kg, and is designed for wall mounting only. No IP rating is specified, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms.
Where It Works Best
As a self contained, symmetrical fitting, it suits a single wall position, above a console table, between windows, or as a matched pair flanking a bed head. The marble glass makes it a considered choice for more traditional or richly furnished rooms where the six light Armstrong versions would be too large a gesture.
Made by Schwung
Schwung was founded in Namyslow, Poland, in 2014, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Marble is one of three glass types blown at their workshop, and even in the compact Dual format, each globe carries the same hand finished quality as the larger Armstrong fittings.
Good to Know
- Made to order in Poland at Schwung's workshop
- Not returnable, as with all Schwung fittings, since each one is made to order
- Two hand blown marble glass globes on a compact brass frame, extending in opposite directions from a central point
- Approximately 64cm high, 15cm wide and 17cm deep, weighing around 2.2kg
- Takes 2 x 5W LED candelabra (E12) bulbs, included, 2700K warm white, approximately 1000 lumens combined, dimmable with a low voltage electronic or trailing edge dimmer
- No IP rating specified, so best suited to dry indoor spaces rather than bathrooms
- Brass care: clean regularly with a soft cloth or duster, a damp cloth can also be used, dry the frame fully before switching back on, do not use cleaning agents on brass parts
- Glass care: clean the outside with a soft dry cloth, use a damp cloth first on dirtier glass, a gentle glass cleaner will lift grease
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician
Questions People Ask
Is the marble glass version brighter or dimmer than the opal version?
Both use the same two 5W LED bulbs and produce around 1000 lumens combined. The difference is in how the light looks rather than how much of it there is, marble glass gives a warmer, more layered glow.
Can the Dual be used as a single bedside or reading light?
It's designed more as an ambient or accent fitting than a task light, given its diffused output, but it can work well as a soft bedside glow.
Does it need to be professionally installed?
Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician, as with all hardwired lighting.
