The Orluna M-300 is a 300mA mains dimmable driver built to carry a little more power than Orluna's smaller 300mA options, while still giving full dimmer control.
Matching This Driver To Your Fitting
Confirm the Orluna fitting you are installing is rated for a 300mA constant current supply, since driver and fitting current need to match for correct operation. This driver pairs with standard leading and trailing edge dimmer switches, so check the dimmer's rated load range against the fitting's wattage before wiring it in. Ask your Orluna supplier if you need to confirm the exact current a fitting requires.
How It Works
The M-300 regulates a mains supply down to a constant 300mA current, rated at up to 14W. Dimming takes place on the mains side through a compatible leading or trailing edge dimmer switch, giving smooth control over light output.
Where It Works Best
At 14W, the M-300 sits at the top of Orluna's 300mA mains dimmable range covered here, ahead of the 9W M-300-2, making it suited to fittings that draw more power within the same 300mA current family. Where dimming is not required, the non dimmable N-300 covers the same current at a mid range 12W. As with any driver, position it somewhere accessible for future maintenance.
Made By Orluna
Orluna's story starts in 1973, when a group of aeronautical engineers began applying LED technology to civil and military work, fields where efficiency, longevity and mechanical reliability were essential long before LEDs found their way into architectural lighting. Those same priorities, built to last and engineered to perform, still underpin drivers like the M-300 today.
Good To Know
- Constant current output: 300mA
- Maximum power: 14W
- Input: Mains voltage
- Dimming: Compatible with standard leading and trailing edge dimmer switches
- Suitable for use with Orluna fittings rated to the same current
- Covered under Orluna's 20 year spares and repair programme as a replaceable component
Questions People Ask
How does the M-300 differ from the M-300-2? Both run at 300mA, but the M-300 is rated to a higher 14W compared with the M-300-2's 9W, so it suits fittings drawing more power.
Is a special dimmer switch needed? No, standard leading and trailing edge dimmer switches are compatible, though the dimmer's rated load range should still be checked.
What if dimming is not required? The N-300 covers the same 300mA current in a fixed output, non dimmable version.
