Matte White Striped and IP44, Clean Craft for the Bathroom Ceiling
The Kirhii Pendant in Matte White Striped is a 27cm wide IP44 rated bathroom pendant that proves handmade craft quality and waterproof certification can exist in the same fitting. The ceramic shade is formed and hand painted at Mullan Village, County Monaghan, with the matte white ground and fine stripes applied individually before firing. At 9.5cm tall and 27cm wide it has a wide, generous presence on the bathroom ceiling. The 1m cable allows it to hang at a practical height above a bath or in a shower room, and the glass diffuser provides the IP44 compliance without compromising the visual quality of the ceramic shade above it.
How It Works
Supplied with a glass diffuser for wet environment compliance. The E27 bulb sits within the shade, the glass diffuser softening and diffusing the light downward and outward into the bathroom. The matte white striped ceramic body sits above, the white surface brightening the ceiling area around the fitting and the hand painted stripes adding texture and visual interest that a plain white shade could never offer. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs for full mood control.

Above a freestanding bath the Matte White Striped Kirhii creates a clean, fresh focal point that makes the bathroom feel genuinely designed. In a shower room, wet room or humid bathroom with white metro tiles, pale stone or limewash plaster it feels completely at home. The matte white striped finish pairs with virtually any tapware finish and tile combination, making it one of the most adaptable IP44 pendants in the Mullan range.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The matte white striped finish reflects the bleached stone and whitewashed plaster of the historic buildings surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs
Which bathroom zone is this rated for?
The Kirhii Pendant is IP44 rated for Zone 2, the area beyond 0.6m from the edge of a bath or shower where protection against water splashing from any direction is required. It is not suitable for Zone 0 or Zone 1. Please check with your installer if you are unsure which zone applies to your installation point.
Can I use this above a freestanding bath?
Yes, provided the installation point falls within Zone 2. Your NICEIC electrician will confirm the exact zone based on the position of the bath and the proposed hanging point.
Will the stripes be perfectly even?
No, and that is intentional. The stripes are hand painted, so there is natural variation in width and spacing. The overall impression is clean and graphic but up close you can see it was made by a person.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
