A Miniature Stainless Steel Step Light With a 180º Wash
The LuxR Micro Recessed Step Light is a tiny low voltage fitting made to sit in the ground or in a wall. Its single facet 180º flange sends light outwards and downwards, giving an even wash across steps, paths or walls.
A facet is the opening that the light is emitted from.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
This version is precision machined in marine grade 316 stainless steel. It keeps a clean, bright finish that suits modern steps and rendered walls, and it is made to cope with wet weather. The light source is a replaceable 1 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm glow.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white, a safe choice for most steps and walls.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white for contemporary schemes.
How It Works
Fit it into a 21mm cut out in a riser or wall, with the 180º flange facing the direction you want the light to fall. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced, or swapped for a colour LED.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it on stair risers and retaining walls so light falls neatly onto the tread or ground below. It also suits low garden walls. The same design is available in the larger M2 and M4 sizes.

Questions People Ask
How does the 180º flange direct the light?
It sends light across a half circle, outwards and down, so steps and walls get an even wash.
What size hole do I need?
A 21mm cut out. The flange is 31.5mm across and 9mm deep.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Is stainless steel or copper the better choice?
Stainless steel keeps its even finish, while copper slowly darkens with a natural patina. Choose whichever suits your steps and walls.
