A Miniature Copper Step Light With a 180º Wash
The LuxR Micro Recessed Step Light is a tiny low voltage fitting made to sit in the ground or in a wall. Light leaves through a single facet 180º flange, which sends it outwards and downwards to wash steps, paths or walls evenly.
A facet is the opening that the light is emitted from.
Copper That Weathers Naturally
This version is machined from copper. It starts warm and bright, then gradually develops a natural patina outdoors, so it ages with the brick, stone or timber around it. The light source is a replaceable 1 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm glow.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white, a safe choice for most steps and walls.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
Fit it into a 21mm cut out in a riser or wall, with the 180º flange facing the way you want light to fall. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced, or swapped for a colour LED.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
It is made for stair risers and retaining walls, where the half circle of light falls onto the tread or ground below. It also suits low garden walls. The same design is available in the larger M2 and M4 sizes.

What does the 180º flange do?
It directs light across a half circle, outwards and down, to create an even wash over steps, paths or walls.
What size hole do I need?
A 21mm cut out. The flange is 31.5mm across and 9mm deep.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors, so it darkens and softens over time. This is normal.
