A Miniature Stainless Steel Dark Light for Low Glare Uplighting
The LuxR Micro Recessed Dark Light is a tiny low voltage fitting that sits flush in a wall, step or paving. Light escapes through a narrow baffled neck within the flange, so you notice the glow on the surface and not the lamp. The brand states it is ideal for marking boundaries, crosslighting paths and uplighting columns and walls.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
This version is precision machined in marine grade 316 stainless steel. It keeps a clean, crisp look and stands up well to wet weather, so it suits modern paving, render and cladding. The light source is a replaceable 1 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so materials look true to colour.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm, candle like glow.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white, the usual choice for gardens and stonework.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white that suits contemporary schemes.
How It Works
Push the fitting into a 21mm cut out and the 16º beam does the rest. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced, or swapped for a colour LED, whenever you like.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to graze light up a wall, to line a path from the side, or to wash a column from its base. It is a discreet choice where you want the effect without visible fittings. The same design is also available in the larger M2 and M4 sizes.

Questions People Ask
What size hole do I need?
A 21mm cut out. The flange is 31.5mm across and only 2.2mm deep.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
What is the beam angle?
The beam is 16º, a narrow and controlled spread of light. For a choice of beams, look at the LuxR Micro Recessed Spot.
Is stainless steel or copper better for me?
Stainless steel keeps its bright, even finish, while copper slowly darkens with a natural patina. Choose the one that suits the stone, brick or paving around it.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED.
