A Miniature Copper Dark Light for Low Glare Uplighting
The LuxR Micro Recessed Dark Light is a tiny low voltage fitting that sits flush in a wall, step or paving. Light leaves through a narrow baffled neck inside the flange, so you see the glow on the surface rather than the lamp itself. The brand states it is ideal for marking boundaries, crosslighting paths and uplighting columns and walls.
Copper That Weathers Naturally
This version is precision machined from copper. It starts out warm and bright, then gradually develops a natural patina outdoors, so it blends into stone and brick over the years. The light source is a 1 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so materials look true to colour.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm, candle like glow.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white, the usual choice for gardens and stonework.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
Push the fitting into a 21mm cut out and the 16º beam does the rest. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced, or swapped for a colour LED, so you can change the look later.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Fit it low in a wall to graze light upwards over brick or render, set it beside a path, or use it at the foot of a column. It is a small, discreet choice where you want effect without visible fittings. The same design is also available in the larger M2 and M4 sizes.

Questions People Ask
What size hole do I need?
A 21mm cut out. The flange is 31.5mm across and sits almost flush, only 2.2mm deep.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
What beam does the dark light have?
It has a 16º beam, which is narrow and controlled. If you want a wider choice of beams, look at the LuxR Micro Recessed Spot.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors, so the finish softens and darkens over time. This is normal and part of its appeal.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED.
