A Compact Powder Coated Step Light with an Eyelid
The LuxR Modux 1 Step Light Solid Eyelid is an extra compact recessed light for steps, paths and bordered areas where the fitting needs to be unobtrusive. The eyelid shields the light source so no light is thrown upwards, which gives a precise, glare free effect on the tread below.
Four Powder Coat Colours
This version is UV powder coated aluminium, so you can blend it into the surface around it. The light source is a 1 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.
- Matt Black: disappears into dark slate, brick or timber risers.
- Matt Bronze: a warm tone that sits well with natural stone.
- Matt White: blends into pale render and light stone.
- Matt Dark Grey: a neutral that suits concrete and grey paving.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm glow.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
Fit the body into a 34.5mm cut out in the riser or wall, with the flange sitting around the edge. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied, and the Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it in step risers, low walls and the edges of paths, where you want a pool of light on the ground without seeing the source. If you want more output, the same design is also available as the larger M2 and M4.

What does the eyelid do?
The eyelid shields the light source so that no light goes upwards. The light falls on the step or path below, which keeps glare down.
What size hole do I need?
The cut out is 34.5mm. The recessed body is 32mm in diameter and 38.5mm long, and the flange is 43mm in diameter and 19mm deep.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
Can I see the powder coat colours before I buy?
Yes. Colours shown are for guidance only, and physical colour swatches are available on request. Colours marked Non-Returnable cannot be returned once ordered.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED.
