A Tiny Glare Guard Spike Spot in Four Powder Coat Colours

The LuxR Modux 1 Spike Spot with Glare Guard is a very small low voltage garden spotlight on a solid 175mm spike that pushes into the soil. The body is only 31mm across and 42mm long. The glare guard shades the lens, so the light lands on your plants rather than in your eyes.

UV Powder Coated Aluminium

This version is UV powder coated aluminium, with a choice of four colours. The light source is a 1 watt Cree XPG-3 LED with a CRI of 90 plus, which helps plants and stonework look true to colour. The same spike spot is also made in copper and stainless steel.

Choose Your Colour, Beam and Lens

• Powder coat colour: Matt Black is the darkest and quietest, Matt Bronze is a warmer tone, Matt White (Non-Returnable) is the brightest by day, and Matt Dark Grey (Non-Returnable) is a softer alternative to black.
• Beam and colour temperature: 30º is a narrow beam for a single feature, 53º suits a larger shrub, and oval gives a wider, flatter wash. 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
• Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.

How It Works

Push the spike into the soil and angle the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

This is a good choice for borders beside seating areas or paths, where you may look towards the light and a bare lens could dazzle. It also suits small pots, steps and the base of a tree. The same design is also available as the larger M2 and M4. Moonlight Design uses LuxR in its own garden lighting designs and installations.

What does the glare guard do?

It shades the lens to cut glare when you look towards the light, so it is more comfortable beside seating and paths.

Does it come with a driver?

No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.

Which colours cannot be returned?

Matt White and Matt Dark Grey are marked Non-Returnable in the colour selector, so they cannot be returned once ordered. Physical colour swatches are available on request.

Which beam angle should I choose?
