A Dimmable Driver for Constant Current Garden LEDs

The Light Symphony LS301045CLED LED driver supplies compatible constant current LEDs from a Light Symphony lighting controller. It is the power conversion component between the controller's mains output and the LED fittings, rather than a wireless receiver or handset.

Choosing the correct driver is essential to how the lighting performs. A fitting that requires a fixed operating current must be matched to that current, as well as to the driver's permitted load and voltage range.

Four Selectable Current Settings

This driver offers 500mA, 700mA, 900mA and 1050mA settings. Light Symphony's current specification lists 32W at 500mA and 45W at the other three settings. The enclosure measures 147 x 80 x 33mm.

The current setting is selected to suit the LEDs. It is not a brightness selector to turn up experimentally: using the wrong operating current can damage the connected equipment.

How It Works With Light Symphony

The driver connects to a suitable switched or dimming mains output on a compatible lighting controller. On a correctly specified dimming circuit, the controller and driver work together to adjust the connected LEDs.

App, timer and key fob commands operate through the controller. The driver does not independently connect to a phone or router, even though its lighting can form part of an app-controlled scheme.

For a system using the 4 Channel Lighting Controller, distinguish this mains dimmable driver from the separate DMX drivers required for RGB or RGBW colour control.

Where It Works Best

This model suits compatible LED fittings requiring one of the higher constant current settings available in the range. It can form part of a professionally designed garden circuit where several series wired fittings share a correctly calculated driver load.

The number of fittings cannot be decided from wattage alone. The installer also needs the operating current and combined forward voltage, together with the driver's permitted output range.

Specify the Driver Around the Fittings

Check the fitting manufacturer's requirements before choosing the setting or quantity of drivers. Do not substitute this unit for a 12V or 24V constant voltage LED strip supply.

If the fittings require 350mA, consider the 350mA to 700mA constant current driver instead. Position the driver in an environment or enclosure appropriate to its own installation requirements.

Can this driver power 12V LED strip?
No. This is a constant current LED driver. Most 12V LED strip needs a constant voltage supply instead.

Can I use a higher current setting to make LEDs brighter?
No. The current setting must match the LED manufacturer's specification. Choosing a higher setting can damage the LEDs.

Does this driver connect to the app directly?
No. App control comes through the wider Light Symphony control system, with the driver responding to the connected lighting controller.

How many lights can one driver operate?
There is no fixed number of lights. The LED current, forward voltage and total load need to be calculated for the fittings being used.
