A mains fitting for a clean wash of light down a wall
The Hunza Wall Down Light GU10 does one thing and does it consistently: a fixed head throws an even wash of light down a wall, a pier, or a length of cladding. It runs on GU10 mains, so there's no transformer to plan for, wire in and you're done.
This version is finished in brushed 316 stainless steel, a raw metal finish rather than a painted one, so there's no colour to fade or chip over time.
The stainless steel finish
316 grade stainless steel is the marine grade Hunza uses across its solid metal range, chosen for how it holds up against damp, salt air and general weathering. It keeps a consistent brushed metal look for the life of the fitting, though Hunza notes it may develop a light surface tarnish in some environments, something a periodic wash sorts out.
How it works
The head is fixed in place once mounted, so you choose the direction, up the wall or down it, when you install it. It's suitable for timber, masonry or stone, the body is water resistant, and it comes with its mounting base and stainless steel fixing screws. At 90mm high and 82.5mm wide, with a 28mm projection off the wall, it's a compact fitting that sits close to the surface.
Running on GU10 mains means no transformer and no low voltage wiring, just a standard mains connection. It isn't supplied with a bulb, and to keep the IP rating and warranty valid, it must be run with a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp. The same fixture is also available as a low voltage version if you'd rather run it through a transformer.
Where it works best
As a wash light rather than a spotlight, it's suited to long runs of wall, gable ends, chimney breasts, or boundary fencing you want to give depth to after dark, rather than a single ornament or plant you want to spotlight. It works equally well on modern render or older brick and stone.
Our experience with Hunza
Moonlight Design has worked with Hunza since we were founded in 2003, and this Down Light in particular is one of the fittings we go back to for straightforward mains wall washing, no transformer, no fuss, just a dependable result.

Questions People Ask
- Will the stainless steel discolour outdoors? It's 316 marine grade steel, chosen to resist salt air and general weathering, so it keeps a consistent brushed look. It can pick up a light surface tarnish in some conditions, which a wash removes.
- Does this version need a transformer? No. It runs on GU10 mains, wiring directly into a standard mains circuit.
- Is a bulb included? No. It needs a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp, sold separately, to keep the IP66 rating and warranty valid.
- Can the direction be adjusted after installation? No, the head is fixed once mounted. Decide up or down the wall at the point of installation.
- Is there a low voltage version of this fitting? Yes, the same Wall Down Light is also available running on low voltage through a transformer with an MR16 lamp.
