A mains fitting for a clean wash of light down a wall
The Hunza Wall Down Light GU10 does one job and does it well: a fixed head throws an even wash of light down a wall, a pier, or a length of cladding, rather than a directional beam. Running on GU10 mains means no transformer to plan for, just a standard mains connection.
This version is solid copper, a raw metal finish rather than a painted one.
The copper finish
This is solid copper, not plated or a copper effect coating, so it will weather and darken outdoors with age rather than holding a fixed colour, moving from a bright polished tone toward a darker brown and eventually a green verdigris in some environments. Hunza treats this as a feature the finish is designed to do, not a fault to prevent.
How it works
Once mounted, the head is fixed in the direction you set it, up or down the wall. It's suitable for timber, masonry or stone, the body is water resistant, and it's supplied with its mounting base and stainless steel fixing screws. At 90mm high and 82.5mm wide, with a 28mm projection off the wall, it's a compact fitting that sits close to the surface it's lighting.
Running on GU10 mains means no transformer and no low voltage wiring. It isn't supplied with a bulb, and to keep the IP rating and warranty valid, it must be run with a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp. The same fixture is also available as a low voltage version if you'd rather run it through a transformer.
Where it works best
As a wash light rather than a spotlight, it suits long runs of wall, chimney breasts, gable ends and boundary fencing, particularly where copper's warm tone and slow colour change over the years will read as part of the garden rather than as hardware.
Our experience with Hunza
Moonlight Design has specified Hunza fittings since we were founded in 2003, over 23 years of watching how these copper pieces age in real gardens. The GU10 mains version is one we point clients toward when they want copper's ageing character without adding a transformer to the installation.

Questions People Ask
- Does the copper finish need any maintenance? No. It's designed to weather naturally outdoors, moving from bright copper toward a darker brown and eventually green verdigris over time. There's nothing to polish or treat unless you want to slow that change.
- Does this version need a transformer? No. It runs on GU10 mains, so it wires straight into a standard mains circuit with no transformer needed.
- Is a bulb included? No. You'll need a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp, sold separately, to keep the IP66 rating and warranty valid.
- Can I choose which way it points? Yes, at installation. The head is fixed once mounted, so you set the direction, up or down the wall, when you fit it.
- Is there a low voltage version of this fitting? Yes, the same Wall Down Light is also available as a low voltage version that runs through a transformer with an MR16 lamp.
