A low voltage wash light that weathers with age

The Hunza Wall Down Light has a fixed head built to throw a steady wash of light down a wall, a pier or a run of cladding. This version is solid copper and runs on low voltage, a combination many of our clients pick specifically because copper is designed to change over time rather than stay looking new.

The copper finish

This is solid copper, not a plated or coated copper effect, so the metal will develop a natural patina outdoors, moving from a bright, polished tone toward a darker, more weathered brown and eventually a green verdigris in some environments. Hunza treats this as a feature rather than a fault: the finish is designed to age, and no two fittings will weather in exactly the same way.

How it works

The head is fixed once mounted, so you set the direction, up the wall or down it, at installation. It's suitable for timber, masonry or stone, the body is water resistant, and it's supplied with its mounting base and stainless steel fixing screws. At 75mm high and 82.5mm wide, with a 28mm projection, it's a compact, close fitting light.

Being low voltage, it needs a transformer to step down the mains supply, sold separately. It isn't supplied with a bulb, and to keep the IP rating and warranty valid, it must be run with a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp. The same fixture is also available as a GU10 mains version if you'd rather skip the transformer.

Where it works best

As a wash light rather than a spotlight, it suits long runs of wall, chimney breasts, gable ends and boundary fencing, particularly where copper's warm tone and slow colour change over the years will read as part of the garden rather than as hardware.

Questions People Ask

Will the copper change colour over time?
Yes, left outdoors it will darken from a bright polished tone to a deeper brown, and eventually a green verdigris in some environments. This is expected and part of the design, not a fault.

Can the head be redirected after installation?
No, the head is fixed once mounted, so the direction, up the wall or down it, needs to be set at installation.

Does it come with a bulb?
No. It takes a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, bought separately, which is required to keep the IP rating and warranty valid.

What surfaces can this be mounted on?
Timber, masonry or stone. The body is water resistant and it's supplied with its mounting base and stainless steel fixing screws.

Is there a mains version?
