A mains spotlight in a finish that changes with age

The Hunza Spike Spot Adjustable GU10 mounts on a ground spike rather than a wall bracket, pushing straight into a border, lawn edge or planting bed. Running on GU10 mains keeps the installation simple: no transformer, just a standard mains connection. The head tilts and rotates so you can aim the beam exactly where you want it.

This version is solid copper.

The copper finish

This is solid copper rather than a plated finish, so it will weather naturally outdoors, moving from bright and polished toward a darker brown and, in time, toward green verdigris in some settings. Hunza treats this as part of the design rather than something to prevent.

How it works

Once pushed into the ground, the head can be angled and turned to point the beam at whatever you're lighting. It isn't supplied with a bulb, and a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp is required to keep the IP rating and warranty valid. The same fixture is also available as a low voltage version if you'd rather run it through a transformer.

Where it works best

Good for picking out single features without a wall to fix to: freestanding trees, island beds, statues, or a path through open lawn, particularly where copper's warmth and slow change in tone over the years suits the setting.

Our own installations

The photographs on this page are from our own completed projects, not stock imagery: uplighting an Acer, picking out an island planting bed, washing a garden wall, and lighting up planters and containers. Moonlight Design has specified Hunza since we were founded in 2003, over 23 years across their range, and the mains copper Spike Spot is a straightforward option where running low voltage cable and a transformer isn't practical.
