A Mains Powered Spotlight Cast in Copper

This version of the Hunza Pole Spot is made from uncoated copper rather than steel or powder coated aluminium, so it ages the way garden metalwork always has, darkening naturally over the years. It runs straight off your mains circuit and takes a standard GU10 lamp, making it a simple fixture to wire in and relamp.

Solid Copper

Left unlacquered, copper reacts naturally to air and moisture, moving from a bright metallic tone toward a deeper, darker patina over time. This is expected and not a fault, the same natural weathering you would see on an old copper gutter, and it tends to suit period gardens and stone or brick settings particularly well.

How It Works

• The head sits on a fully adjustable mount, so the beam can be aimed precisely at a tree, wall or statue.
• Wires directly into your mains lighting circuit, with no separate driver or transformer required.
• Takes a GU10 lamp, which is not included and must be a Hunza approved GU10 LED to preserve the IP66 rating.
• Rated IP66, and backed by a 10 year warranty on the fitting, with the approved GU10 LED lamp covered for 5 years.

Where It Works Best

The warm, ageing tone of copper suits traditional or period gardens especially well, picking out a specimen tree, an archway or a piece of statuary against brick or stone. Because it throws a focused beam rather than a wide spread, it works alongside a Border Light rather than replacing one.

Designed and Made in New Zealand

Hunza has hand assembled outdoor lighting in Auckland, New Zealand for more than 30 years, according to the brand, and its solid copper fittings are built with the expectation that they will be left outdoors permanently and allowed to age naturally.

Good to Know

• The solid copper finish will darken and patina naturally with weather exposure. This is normal and does not need to be prevented or polished away.
• This fitting is not supplied with a bulb. It requires a GU10 lamp, purchased separately.
• To maintain the IP66 rating and the warranty, a Hunza approved GU10 LED must be used.
• Wires directly into a mains lighting circuit. No transformer or driver is required.
• Moonlight Design recommends that all outdoor lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Will the copper finish change colour over time?
Yes, it is supplied uncoated and will darken and develop a natural patina with weather exposure. This is expected and does not need polishing to prevent it.
