A Copper Pillar Light That Grows Into Its Setting
Hunza designed this pillar light to send a beam up and a beam down from one compact fitting. On a gate post, a stone column or a house entrance it frames the surface around it with two soft pools of light. This one is the low voltage copper model, and it is also sold in a GU10 mains version.
Copper Made to Weather and Patina
Solid copper is a natural finish, and Hunza intends it to be left outdoors to age. When new it is bright and warm. With time it deepens to brown and then to a soft green, the way copper gutters and roofs do. That change is normal and is part of the appeal, so pick it if you like a finish with some character rather than one that stays fixed.
How It Works
- Two directions of light from one body, upward and downward, lighting the pillar face on both sides of the fitting.
- It uses an MR16 lamp that you buy separately. Only a Hunza approved LED lamp will maintain the IP rating and the warranty.
- The body measures 63.5mm across and 139mm long, with a 75mm wide base 28mm deep and 1m of cable attached.
- It is a low voltage fitting wired in parallel and needs one of our transformers.
- IP66 rated, with a 10 year warranty.
Where It Works Best
- On old brick pillars where warm copper suits the colour of the masonry
- At a garden gate, one on each post
- On the corners of a terrace wall
- Beside an entrance porch to light the walls and the ground nearby
Our Lighting Design Service
Moonlight Design has worked with Hunza since 2003. We design lighting schemes for gardens, supply Hunza fittings and install them with NICEIC registered electricians. Our Design Service page has project photographs of our own completed schemes and explains how we plan, draw up and install a lighting layout. You are welcome to visit it before choosing your fittings.
Good to Know
- Made to order: usually ships within 2 to 3 days. If your specification is temporarily out of stock, allow 3 to 5 weeks.
- Returns accepted within 14 days if the fitting is unused, uninstalled and in its original packaging.
- Lamp not supplied, so you will need to add a Hunza approved MR16 LED.
- Needs a transformer, sold separately.
- Copper changes colour outdoors. This is intended and is not a fault.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
What colour will the copper be after a few years?
It starts bright and warm, deepens to brown over time and can eventually develop a soft green patina, as copper does on roofs and gutters.
Can I fit any lamp I like?
No. To keep the IP rating and the warranty you need to fit a Hunza approved LED lamp, which is bought separately.
Is this a mains fitting?
No, it is low voltage and needs a transformer. A GU10 mains version is made for people who would rather avoid low voltage cabling.
How long is the supplied cable?
The fitting comes with 1m of cable.
