A lantern that brings its own post

The Norfolk Single Pillar Lantern is a free standing outdoor light, complete with its own black post and base plate, so it needs no wall to lean on. At just over a metre tall, it is built to mark a driveway entrance, a garden gate or the start of a path on its own.

The lantern head is cast in black aluminium, with a domed cap and a pointed finial that echo the shape of an old gas lamp. Each glazed face is set with a lead diamond pattern across clear glass, giving the light a faceted, old fashioned character rather than a plain box of glass on a post.

How It Works

One E27 lamp holder sits inside the lantern head, and fitting a dimmable LED bulb lets the light be dimmed if the property's wiring supports it. This is a hardwired, Class I fitting, so it needs to be connected up and the post bolted to a solid base by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

Set in pairs either side of a driveway or gate, or on its own at the corner of a lawn or along a path to the front door, the Norfolk pillar lantern works anywhere a lit marker is needed without a wall nearby to fix a bracket to.

Does the Norfolk pillar lantern come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 lamp holder and the bulb isn't included, so choose a dimmable LED bulb if you want to dim the light.

Do I need an electrician to install it? Yes. This is a hardwired Class I fitting, and the post also needs bolting to a solid base, so we always recommend a qualified electrician carries out the installation.

Is the Norfolk pillar lantern weatherproof? It carries an IP43 rating, built to withstand rain and cold once it has been correctly wired in outdoors.

Can I use this lantern without a nearby wall? Yes. It comes complete with its own post and base plate, so it stands independently and doesn't need a wall or bracket to mount to.
