A sculpted jewel for the wall
The Harlow wall sconce sets an oval drum shade in soft ivory fabric above a tapering crystal column that narrows to a polished point, with a faceted crystal jewel marking the join between the two. Light spills gently through the fabric and washes down over the crystal below, giving the piece a soft, glowing quality rather than a single hard source of light. With two lamps hidden behind the shade, it reads more like a piece of jewellery mounted on the wall than a conventional light fitting.
Tranquility silver leaf finish
In photos and in person, the tranquility silver leaf finish shows as a warm, champagne toned metal leaf along the top and bottom edges of the shade, set against the ivory fabric and clear faceted crystal. It reads warmer than a plain silver finish, so it sits comfortably against pale neutral walls as well as richer, jewel toned schemes.
How it works
Two E14 candelabra bulbs, rated up to 40W each, sit behind the shade (bulbs not included). The fixture measures approximately 27cm wide and 51cm high, and projects around 13cm from the wall, so it sits comfortably in a hallway, landing or beside a bed without crowding the space.
Where it works best
As a wall mounted piece, the Harlow sconce is best suited to spaces that call for light at eye level rather than overhead, either side of a mirror or bed, along a staircase or hallway, or flanking a fireplace. Hang a pair for symmetry either side of a focal point, or use a single sconce as a quiet accent beside a favourite chair.
About Corbett
For more than 40 years, Corbett Lighting has built its name on bold, sculptural fixtures often described as sophisticated-chic and jewellery-like, treating each piece more as a wearable object than a plain light fitting. Corbett belongs to Hudson Valley Lighting Group, the family business behind Mitzi and Troy Lighting too, with roots going back to 1939, when Brooklyn inventor William Littman saw the fluorescent lighting displays at that year's New York World's Fair and was inspired to start experimenting himself. His grandson, David Littman, carried that curiosity forward, founding Hudson Valley Lighting Group in the 1980s.
