A Fire Rated Downlight That Fits Where Others Won't
The H2 Lite is Collingwood's slimline fixed downlight, built for the ceilings where a standard fitting simply won't sit. At just 46mm deep it drops into voids that would leave a deeper downlight proud of the ceiling or stuck outside the joist, so it's a genuine option for loft conversions, low ceilings and refurbishments where every millimetre of void depth counts.
The Matt White Finish, Bezel Included
This version comes in a clean matt white finish with its bezel supplied as standard, so there's nothing extra to source before it goes in. The bezel sits flush against a 90mm diameter opening once fitted, with a cutout of 64 to 72mm doing the actual work in the ceiling. It's a quiet, unobtrusive fitting rather than a design statement, which is exactly the point when you want light without drawing attention to the fitting itself.
How It Works
The LED and driver are built into the fitting, so there's no separate driver box to plan for or hide above the ceiling. It runs at 4.3W, giving 460 lumens at 3000K or 490 lumens at 4000K, which works out at 107 to 114 lumens per watt, a genuinely efficient output for a fitting this compact. A 55 degree beam angle spreads the light generously rather than throwing a tight spot, and it renders colour at 80 CRI, enough for everyday accuracy in most rooms. Installation goes through Collingwood's two part Easy-Fit connector: an electrician can terminate the ceiling plate at first fix, then simply click the light itself into place once the ceiling is finished, which suits new builds and renovations alike. It's TRIAC mains dimmable, so it can be run on a standard dimmer switch rather than needing separate control gear.
Where It Works Best
Rated IP65 from below and IP20 from above, the H2 Lite is approved for bathroom zone 1, so it can go directly over a bath or shower where a standard downlight can't. Our guide to bathroom lighting zones explains what each zone means if you're planning where it can go. Outside the bathroom, it works just as well in kitchens, hallways, living rooms and bedrooms, anywhere a run of downlights needs to sit flush and stay out of the way. Its fire rating over solid timber, I-joist and metal web ceiling constructions also makes it a straightforward specification for both timber frame new builds and older joisted ceilings.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood designs and manufactures its LED downlights from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has focused on LED technology since 2002. Fire rating is one of the areas the brand built its early reputation on, and Collingwood states it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed and mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, a history you can see reflected in the H2 Lite's own fire rated, dimmable build. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
Can this go in a bathroom?
Yes. It's rated IP65 from below and approved for bathroom zone 1, so it can be fitted directly above a bath or shower.
Do I need a separate driver?
No. The driver is built into the fitting itself, so there's nothing extra to hide above the ceiling.
Is it dimmable, and what dimmer do I need?
Yes. It's TRIAC mains dimmable, so it works with a standard leading edge dimmer switch rather than needing a specialist driver or control system.
How shallow a ceiling void does it need?
The fitting is 46mm deep, so it's designed for voids as shallow as that, useful in loft conversions and low ceilings where deeper downlights won't fit.
What if a previous downlight has left a bigger hole than this one needs?
Collingwood sells a hole converter plate separately, which covers a larger existing cutout down to the size the H2 Lite needs.
Does it come with a choice of colour temperature?
Yes, it's available in 3000K warm white or 4000K cool white.
